Food Allergy & Intolerance Dietitian — Sunshine Coast

Helping adults, children and families manage dietary restrictions with confidence.

Living with a food allergy or intolerance can make everyday eating more complicated. Avoiding certain foods may be medically necessary, but unnecessary restrictions can also affect nutritional intake, food variety and quality of life.

At Eatwise Dietetics, we provide individualised nutrition support to help you navigate food allergies, intolerances and dietary exclusions.

What We Can Help With:

Food allergies (single or multiple), including IgE and non-IgE allergies (FPIES, FPE & FPIAP)

Food intolerances (single or multiple), including lactose intolerance

Starting solids & allergy-safe food introduction

Selective eating, low intake & feeding challenges related to food allergies

Breastfeeding & maternal nutrition, including elimination diets and reintroduction.

Planning nutritionally balanced diets when avoiding allergens and finding suitable food alternatives

Food Allergy Versus Food Intolerance

Food allergies and food intolerances are different conditions and require different approaches.

Food allergies involve an immune response and may cause serious reactions. Diagnosis and medical management should be undertaken by an appropriately qualified medical practitioner.

Food intolerances do not generally involve the same immune mechanisms and may cause symptoms such as abdominal discomfort, bloating or altered bowel habits.

A dietitian can help with nutritional management and appropriate dietary changes while working alongside your treating medical team.

Food Allergies in Children

Children with food allergies may need additional nutrition support, particularly when major food groups are excluded or several allergies are present.

We help families plan balanced diets that support growth, development and nutritional adequacy while following medically recommended allergen avoidance.

Avoiding Unnecessary Food Restrictions

Food exclusions should be based on an appropriate clinical assessment.

Removing multiple foods without guidance can increase the risk of nutritional deficiencies and make eating unnecessarily difficult.

Our goal is to help you maintain as much dietary variety as is safely possible.
